The Great Commission involves soul-winning and discipleship. In the early church although evangelism had the upper hand growing the body of Christ was not neglected. In this end-time period the reverse is the case. This is the gleaning season. God’s interest is in redirecting the church back to the Acts chapter two model with emphasis on discipleship: “Now all who believed were together, and had all things in common, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved. (Acts 2:44 & 47 NKJV)
Without any shadow of doubt, the five-fold ministry should be more concerned with the mandate of Jesus than ever before in the history of the church. In a nutshell, the mandate of Jesus is to seek, save and re-establish lost mankind on earth. The Lord’s assignment involves two comings to earth, three distinct job descriptions that span over three dispensations: Law, Grace and Kingdom. It has three finishing points, one is past and two are future. It is time for judgment and God’s people must be prepared for it.
The first coming was to pay the price for Adam’s transgression. The second coming is to judge Christians, Jews and Gentile peoples and nations in that order. The third assignment in His second coming is to re-establish the lost kingdom of God on earth rule over it with a rod of iron for one thousand years for the restitution of all things before handing over to God the Father for further action.
There shall be pre-rapture revival ignited from within and by the church. If the church fails to do so God will intervene to prepare saints for rapture.
Read Revelation 2:18-23. Take special notice of what the spirit of Jezebel can do in the congregation of the righteous. The spirit of Jezebel has invaded the organized church. Observe what is happening in today’s church. With the enthronement of mammon the god of money, widespread indulgence in sexual immorality and idolatrous practices that were even unknown to the Egyptians and Zidonians of old how do you expect church-induced revival in these perilous times?
Jesus warned about the danger of the church getting embroiled in and pre-occupied with four pairs of end-time activities: eating and drinking; marrying and giving in marriage; planting and building and buying and selling. The spiritual implication of these activities is explained in another article titled “Prophetess Jezebel.”
The time allowed the church to repent and do the needful will soon frizzle out. Thereafter, the shaking Jesus warned about in His letter to the church in Thyatira will begin in earnest with civil authorities using unethical laws rules and regulations to persecute the church. Internal dissension within the Body of Christ will exacerbate leading to divine uprooting of structures that cannot stand. Jesus called it ‘great tribulation.’ It is pre-rapture and has nothing to do with the seven-year Tribulation Period, which is also known as the 70th heptad.
Even the new model house ‘church’ fellowship in people’s homes will not be spared. Cell fellowship has become the norm in unreached areas of the world. This has already started gaining ground, blossoming more in countries that restrict the spreading of the gospel and open fellowship. Those who refuse to follow the Spirit’s leading will be swept off the turf. And with that the saying of Jesus will come to pass: “So the last shall be first, and the first last: for many be called, but few chosen. (Mt 20:16 KJV)
The current church system is too cumbersome, man-centred and counterproductive to the realization of the mandate God gave to Jesus Christ and cannot be allowed to thrive any longer. It is time to reform the church. Without reforming the church the Body corporate cannot be revived. Let denominational leaders come together brainstorm and find ways to avoid pre-rapture “famines, pestilences, and earthquakes.” Time is short.
Revelation 2:21 says “And I gave her time to repent of her sexual immorality, and she did not repent.” Those with hearing ears let them hear what the Holy Spirit is saying to the church. It is high time those called by the name of the Lord and placed in responsible positions in the Body of Christ did the needful.
