“But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvellous light; who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy.” (1 Pet 2:9-10 NKJV)
As God’s ambassador on earth, it is absolutely essential for Christians to avoid the unscriptural things ungodly people do to ‘enjoy’ themselves in this life. They are the very things that expedite their physical premature death. It is also responsible to be unprepared for heaven. A Christian needs some preparation to qualify to enter heaven.
The Scriptures make it abundantly clear that the life of a saint does not consist in the abundance of the things he or she possesses or enjoys of the deceitful pleasures of life. The hope of every pilgrim is to be like Jesus Christ by being married to Him eternally.
“Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him. Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure” (1 Jn 3:1-3 NKJV).
